

Not only that, Discover is basically a pared down version of a TikTok-style feed of vertical music videos (likely using their canvas format) that you can like or skip. Each clip has a three-dot icon that can be tapped to get additional information about the song like the name of the artist and album. It supports swipe up and down gestures to help users jump from one clip to the next. A user can heart a video if they like it or simply skip it to keep browsing.

The whole experience is exactly like how it is to browse TikTok clips. Tapping on Discover brings a vertical feed of short videos for you to browse. It sits between the existing Home and Search tabs. If you are one of the beta testers, you will see a new Discover tab in the Spotify app's bottom navigation bar. Chris Messina, a product designer, was one of the first to notice and tweet about the new feature. Spotify's take on TikTok is currently in an early phase of testing and is available only for a few randomly selected users. Netflix released a TikTok-inspired feature called Fast Laughs and now, Spotify has joined the race as it has begun beta testing something similar. These include Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat Spotlight but in recent times, internet companies beyond social media have started doing the same as well. Ever since TikTok started to become massively popular, rival social media platforms started mimicking it.
